Mario Gonzalez

Greetings from Mars! My name is Mario Gonzalez and I have the privilege of being the school counselor for Howard Connect Academy. Our unique approach to education and our love for our students is out of this world. This year, we are venturing into unexplored galaxies as we create unique ways to help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. I am honored to accompany both students and parents on this journey as we reach new heights.

To provide you with a bit of my background, I was born and raised in Miami, Florida (home of the Canes!). I obtained two undergraduate degrees, one in Puerto Rico and the other in Cleveland, Tennessee. Those degrees were in Religion and Psychology. I went on to complete my Masters Degree in School Counseling through Lee University.

All of my educational experiences, from childhood to graduate school, have shaped my philosophy of education. My experiences have taught me that life can feel hopeless due to all the obstacles people face. However, those experiences have also proven that school can be an oasis for children. This is my vision for Howard Connect Academy: that students will find that same safe place as they pursue their education. I am euphoric to be part of this amazing team and to work with the students of Howard Connect Academy.

Interesting facts about me: I have two sisters; My mother is originally from Honduras; I played basketball, football, and soccer since I was a child; I love running, hiking, and reading; I assisted a county wide “Math Bowl”; My favorite movie is “Good Will Hunting”; My favorite chocolate is Kit-Kat; I am very competitive; and I believe education can change the world.
